The top previewed players looked very good. I'd have to agree with all of them. Anyone that disagrees with those players just has an ax to grind. And Islip deserved to be featured for winning the state. To the winners go the spoils. It was fair and accurate.

there are other schools besides these bigger schools that have kids that play ball in LI. apparently, they live in the wrong districts as only the big schoools seem to get covered by Nothing NewDay!

School sports are huge on Long Island. There should be better coverage all around. But some of it still has to do with who you know.

Travel ball is bigger. Baseball will soon be like soccer where scouts and colleges would rather attend a showcase or tournament than a high school game. At least they will see more players, especially hitters, against better pitching. Not making an example of a small school, but if a guy from Mercy has 25 home runs this year but all of the pitchers are average at best, how good can he really be? Let him face top quality pitching and you will see what he is made of.

Newsday should give more coverage to the travel teams and local travel tournaments.
