Well How do you answer that question? Was your selection for county player in the stands watching Burke?

They were inteviewed after a county championship game. How do you get to a championship game? By having a winning program and great players. I guess you feel that the best player in the county is on the worst team?

Get a team to the finals 2 years in a row and say anything that you want to Newsday or News 12. They were both at the game yesterday looking for comments. It is customary to interview the winning coach or the players who did things to change the game.
Burke came to bat with his back to the wall, tie score, top 7th. He could have put a ball in the gap but the grass was 6 inches high and it would have been a single, maybe a double. They were playing him down the line. He had to get the run across. He hits an opposite field shot 380 feet over the head of the right fielder, PAST the long grass onto the pedestrian walkway. A home run in any other field but the budget at Harborfields does not allow for a fence.

To me, that is a sign of being the best in the county.

BTW, what did your selection as best player in the county do in his game yesterday?

went 3 for 3 and is a better all around player than the error riddled shortstop

burke didnt get his team to the finals two years running, it was the team as a whole, not one player, 12 different players did it, he doesnt get the county championship, the whole team does

Congrats islip

no one said burke got his team anywhere. someone complained that the coach made a comment in the newspaper about one of his players. and now people all feel they need to comment about it. people should not worry about such unimportant things and let the kids enjoy themselves and what they accomplished.

on another note i hope we see islips number one on the mound sunday.has a lot of movement on his ball and should be the key to keep the big hitters from nassau in check.Islips played great defense all year and are more than capable of putting a couple of runs across the plate.i think the defending state champs have an edge regardless if they play clarke or division because of their pitching staff.their #3 is 7-0 and will carry the team after the other two move on.but again in a one game playoff whoever makes the least mistakes should win.good luck to both sides.

All League and All County selections are out. The only obvious player missing from All County is the 2B from Sayville.

The All-County selections are out where? Most people knew who they were three weeks ago. The secondbaseman from Sayville is a decent enough player, but he is not an All-County player by any means, especially in an extremely talented League V. The catcher from Sayville was a much more deserving All-County player.

I found most of them for you guys. Maybe the poster has another link to add.

The link at the right under Suffolk County HS website contains the All League and All County picks. You have to go down the page to see them.

I will try to cut and past a separate topic here also.

Somebody please post a link for Nassau. I can't find the information anywhere.

Hey this just in, Islip wins in the first round of the state tournment 5-4. Burke is the winning pitcher, Game ends with two runners on two outs, full count on the batter and Burke strikes him out.
