Congratulations to the 9u Baymen on winning the American division NJBL regular season. The team is very well coached and show great hustle and sportsmanship by every player in all the games I have seen. For 9 yr old they all seem to know what they r doing on the field, thats what practice does for u. They r the team to beat. They probably have the freshest arms entering the playoffs, as we well know the @nd and 3rd place teams have been pitching the the same 3 kids to the limit since late March. GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN THE PLAYOFFS.

I must admit, I agree. The Baymen have very well behaved kids. Giving props to another team is always tough, but the truth is the truth! Congrats Baymen. The sportsmanship shows big! Now I must go and be ABEASTALLDAY! THIS BEING NICE THING IS HARD, I THINK I'M ALLERGIC!

You are right on with your Baymen post , great job by a well respected baseball program. Can't agree with your pitching comments for 3rd place team though , you have them confused with someone else .

Don"t think so> Apparantly your kid doesn't pitch. Maybe we are talking about two differant teams. One Conyo kid pitched two complete games in the 4th of July tournament and the other two both pitched at least 8 or 9 innings each. We will see.

we played them and we saw a kid pitch that was different than the kid the game before they went 2 and 0 and then dropped 2 games. then won playoff against baymen. 6 games is a lot for any team to play in a weekend i am not sure any team on long island has 7 kids that can pitch and pitch well someone is going to have to pitch twice in a six game tourney. I guess the guy complaining is new the tournament baseball why do you think there are no pitching rules. go to baseball heaven some teams only have two pitchers

Certainly not new to touranament baseball, the promlem is 6 games in 3 days, way too much for 9 yr old baseball when u only carry 4 pitchers, its only 11 or 12 player roster so all can play, bring in a pitcher from another team to eat up some innings isn't right either. With spring<summer and fall baseball, plus 4 or 5 tournaments from March till November these nine yr olds are throwing too much. Not blaming the coaches but the fact that my kid has pitched in 20 plus games already, with a fall season ahead and 3 more tournaments, throwing in 30 games at this age is insane.

[***censored***] coach had a kid throw two games in tourney and brought him in to pitch against conyo in a njbl game the next day that ment nothing the very next monday after the game not sure conyo coach would have pitched his kids much after that tourney. especially the monday following tourney.

sounds like there are some other issues there with this eight guy not happy about something. go take a look at some of those kids down south that play baseball all year round . the best players in the country come from these places where the kids are playing every day. If your kid has proper throwing mechanics then he will be alright. If you think your kid is pitching to much why dont you just ask the coach to not pitch him so much i doubt any coach is going to tell a parent he has to pitch. If he has pain in his elbow i am sure you will know. all kids are different but the kids that are having tommy john surgery are usually the ones throwing curvballs before they hit puberty. My sons jr high coach pitched the same kid almost every game and he was playing travel and pitching every sunday. Most pitching coaches tell you to rest your arm for at three months after your final season. Dont know why your on here complaining i dont think its going to help your situation. What ever that may be.

What do you know about southern baseball? Sure they play 9 months out of the year and now so do we in not the same climate. What do u k now about thier pitch count rules or how often they play tournaments during the spring, summer and fall seasons. R eally not blaming the Coaches, I myself got caught up in the tounament and would have kept pitching my guy also. There was just too many innings in that tournament for any 9 year old team to give it thier best shot with 4 pitchers. Asfar as your Jr. High Coach, what is he a Science teacher? More that 3/4 of these caoches have no clue. It is apparant your kid doesn't pitch and probably is not much of a talent or you would have moved him south already. In

All Tournaments should have pitching limits. Then No coach can push a kid too far. Everyone is on equal playing ground this way. Yes a game or 2 will have to be won with a 4, 5 or 6 pitcher but that is why its a team sport. Also it will force coaches not to forget to develop because even though a kid is not the ace they will be called on to win a big game.

First of all, this is a thread to congratulate the Baymen, not to talk trash about other teams. Have a little consideration. Stop thread jacking and start your own thread.
Congrats to the Baymen. Great organization from the coaches to the parent right down to the kids.

We can argue back and forth about if Conyo won by forfeit or if [***censored***] lose by CHEATING, the conclusion is [***censored***] lost the way they did and it couldn't have happen to a better team, [***censored***] deserved it(Coaches). Conyo never said anything about being worried about the safety of the kids, Yes we are concered with our kids and the opposing teams kids safety, but the composite bat rules were put in place more for the safety of the 12/13 years old who are 6'+ and 200lbs+ and are playing on the same fields and hitting lazers off these composite bats. You have some 9 yr olds that hit hard, but you cant compare them to a 200lb 13 yr old. So let's not talk about the safety issue and why Conyo didn't say anything before the AB. When someone does something illegal in a game you're suppose to wait until the infraction is commited them call it out, not before. Didn't you see the George Brett pine tar incident, did the yankees call him out before he used it or after? Again I believe the punishment was a bit harsh, but even if it was an out Conyo would've won anyway. In the end it was a forfeit and TRUE JUSTICE was served.

Now lets address the huevos part of your post. You mention about hiding behind a computer, yet you post anonymous(pot calling the kettle black). Chiefs don't hide. If you can recall, a certain person from this site, oh you guys know him because he doesn't post anonymous and he doesn't hide, heck, he was even at your playoff game with a new shirt on. WHO YA WIT written across the front. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL. Maybe you guys didn't want to notice, I understand, It takes huevos to confront a BEAST. Did you mention cowards? Agian pot calling the kettle black.

No, the other way Conyo wins is the batter gets called out for using illegal bat the moment he steps in the box , thats two outs. Next batter strikes out that Out Number Three, game is over, Conyo wins without forfeit. We could've played the third game but as you may re-call, someone forgot to secure a field for Wednesday night ? It was a great game, between two highly competitve ball clubs. The bat was not verified as illegal until right before the ball was hit into the outfield, it was not seen in play prior to that. The batter only had to enter the box with it and you would still forfeit if its not approved,

If you dont recall even if the [***censored***] guy would have just been called out on the ILLEGAL bat instead of forfeiting...hes an out and the next guy struck out...making three outs....GAME OVER..

Baymen vrs Conyo has been great games by both teams for the past two years. both coaches will tell you they are very evenly matched teams. They will be the top two organizations around for the next eight years for sure. If you have ever been to a game there is never any parents bad mouthing kids or coaches and the two managers seem to get along very well even though there is a rivalry. The other great teams in my opinion have fallen . The indians wont have the same group next year and we all know the falcons drama . Its tough to stay on top. Apparently the Thunder team is a mix of Falcons kids and Three village kids. Three village had a good team not sure why they would want to infect them selves with a bunch of troubled parents and superstars who dont have any idea what it is to be a team player. These teams never last . When the inferno teams realize they need to play summer travel to keep up with these other guys they will be a force . They both have a lot of talent on there teams.

Thunder? You can call a pigeon an eagle if you want! Only Thunder associated with that coach is the sound his team makes when it crashes! You making another team won't help baseball! You leaving would! Inferno? You gotta be kidding me. They are smart, why travel to get your butt whooped? The Indians? What division do they cheat in? OOOOOPPPPSSS I mean play in?

Bottom line, yep that's where you're at!

Listen, Time for the truth! Last year they couldn't win at home and they were losing on the road. His failure as a coach was that he couldn't think of anyplace else to play. ...

That's odd. I called the same number and the message I got was that the Coach had a choice, 1) play fair baseball or 2) 17 days in the big house for possession of an illegal bat! Guess the first wasn't really an option for him. Commissary can be purchased for this coach by sending $25.00 (money order only) Guess it's only 16 and a wake up now!

Too bad the Conyo kids won't be playing past twelve... They are abused by their coach pitching every game then catching 6 innings... I heard one kid complaining his arm hurt because he had to pitch in every game then the coach told him to be quiet and stop complaining... Its too bad becaause their top player is special but you could see it on his face that he was burnt out already.... The rest end up in juvy...

I am kind of disappointed that the Falcons are shutting down. They were a tough team that always played well. I never had any issues with the parents or the kids on that team, I also never had any issues with any other teams on this thread.
I wish that Conyo, LI Indians , Baymen , The new Thunder , Ronkonkoma, Oakdale and Three Village will all play NJBL American Summer League in 2012. Every team on this list is a GOOD team and the division would be a fight to the end of the season. With that said by the time they are 10U there will be other teams that will compete.
Let’s just agree that they are all good and just all get along? It’s 9U baseball.

Which best player are you talking about? I thought they were all Superstars! Problem is only 9 of these superstars can play so let's see how good of a team player they are when they find themselves sitting on the bench!

Interesting post by someone who seems to have an intimate knowledge of the situation... Not sure I agree with the Falcon Superstars aren't team players. From what I've seen their best player is a great team mate amd dosn't even know how good he really is...

I KNOW YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS. YOU CAN TRY AND START THAT RUMOR ALL YOU WANT. You will not find someone to verify it. That's one thing everyone knows doesn't happen. Crazy? Maybe. Guilty of Hit And Run? I don't think that's what they are doing. They are just saying a rule was broken that resulted in a forfeit. Wait , that's just the politically correct way to say they CHEATED! Best 9U? As the off season began early for you? Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda! Don't make it to the SHOW? Ability to argue for the top spot must GO! We are not knocking. That's those illegal bats rolling around the dugout!

These examples are wood, but benches can be other materials too. Usually they are unpadded, so fabric is not part of a bench, though you can get bench cushions. Is your team strong from 1-9. Whammy!

Because that is what they are... Don't think for a second that the coach and dad didn't know that bat was illegal... The list is easy to read and hasn't changed from the beginning of the season... They are far from the best team and the coach is a blowhard...

You seriously gotta be kidding right? I love your sense of humor. Great Coach????? Hahaha. That snake oil salesman would do anything to win. Yeah the kid may have not known it was an illegal bat, but i wouldn't put it past the coaches that they did know. Cheaters is the label one gets from doing something in a game that is not legal. Maybe if the [***censored***] coach wasn't already labeled as a $@#*bag no one would be saying that they are cheaters. But if you ever played them and got to see who they really are, you would know that something like using an illegal bat is right up their alley.
GO TRIBE!

congrats baymen- off to a slow start in the spring
the hard work and dedication put forth by team members, coaches and parents of 3 days of practice a week plus 3 games during the summer paid off. Not only winning the njbl amenrican summer league and tournament- but reeling of a number of tournament victories against very good competition as well. GREAT JOB a true team effort!!

I find it very funny that people see a coach once a week and make assumptions at what kind of person they are. I know one thing my son has been on the [***censored***] since the winter and I have nothing but respect and appreciation for what those coaches have given my son over the past several months. Mark may be loud but he is far from a cheat, oil sales man, or a scum bag. He is a great father and a friend. Whom ever wrote that is as ignorant as they come. I would like to personally thank you for the one hour conversation I had with my son about what a scum bag is and why people feel the need to write such terrible things about 9 year old baseball games. Before we all start ripping into coaches we should listen to what we sound like as parents screaming from the sides. I am one of those parents. If these posts have done anything, they have taught me how to not act. Everyone who writes this crap should be embarassed. This trash is like a bad after school special. You want to stop watching and reading but you can't. I was at the Baymen COnyo game with my son and yes he was crushed. I didn't take him there to stir the pot. I took him there to teach him sportsmanship and not to be ashamed of losing no matter what the reason. I took him there to teach him a life lesson. I took him there to teach him to always hold his head high.I took him there so he could stand on the fence and watch a great game. I took him there to teach him respect for a great game. Sports isn't about winning and losing. It isn't about illegal bats or washed up parents arguing via the internet. It is about our kids growing up and feeling good about themselves and their accomplishments. Sports is about my son sititng with his friends from another team. It's about my son being friends with a great ball player like Brown from the Chiefs. It's about the kids laughing and losing themselves for an afternoon in a great game. It is about keeping our kids out of trouble as they get bigger and the problems get worse. Stop the B.S. NBJL baseball is about the [***censored***] sitting having pizza after an awesome game when a great pitcher like *************** walks in with his mom and all the Indian kids say " Hey *********** great game". They are kids stop ruining it for them. Enjoy what we have. We will be playing eachother for years to come. We will have a 1000 close games. My name is Kenny and my son proudly wears #****** for the [***censored***]. Each and every team we play has amazing ball players....... Good Luck on the up coming season. I look forward to shaking everyones hand before and after the games. Lets all grow up. WHERE ARE YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glen Cove controls the how the divisions are set up not the teams. Take a look at the 10u set up. Blue division was filled with top 3 teams on Long Island while other two divisions had much weaker competition.

Nice speech. Still a loser though. Instead of watching us play you should be going over the rule books! Life lesson? Cheaters never win! lesson for you? The longer your post the dumber you sound! keep up this behavior you will be wearing the number of a correctional facility!

Nice post from an [***censored***] parent, but the coach really shouldn't be coaching. First of all if it's true that he pitched a kid 100 pitches on Friday or Saturday July 4th weekend, then again on Tuesday after that he is not interested in the childs health, he is interested in winning.
He has gotten ejected from games? Had to miss the championship game July 4th due to suspension? Really?
coaching 9u or next year 10u baseball is not for a guy like that. Anyone ejected twice in a season at that age group should be banned by the organization. That said the [***censored***] really don't care about that kind of behavior.
Didn't the assistant coach leave because of Mark's behavior? Team is great, coach should stick to chopping onions.

With you behind the wheel they will surely crash! Just like all your other teams. You travel looking for easy Mark's (no pun intended) to pad your record. as soon as the best begin to call you out, Uh Oh! Hope you got a backup team for this one. The natives could probably beat you without even cheating! For a team called Thunder, you sure aren't making any noise!

LI Thunder play in the 10U - to say most talented 10U you must have played Bellport Braves, LI Mudcats, Oceanside Bulldogs and Conyo Chiefs? Have you played any of them? Have you beaten any of them? Also there is the Brooklyn Bonnies and CP Stars 10U or even 9U.

Nice post Kenny, it is nice to see there are real people and parents out there that do not hide behind the ANONYMOUS name. What we all have to realize is that no matter what happens in these games these kids are still 9 Year Old kids......

Obviously from my name I am a Chiefs Parent, to me, it is all about my kid having fun, win or lose. I tell my boy before every game " Play hard, Give it your best, always smile and what ever happens at the end of the game, happens" I know when my kid is on the field he is giving 110%. I give alot of credit to our coaches as well, they work well with our kids.

One day all the trash talkers on this site who hide behind the ANONYMOUS name will realize how foolish they were knockin 9 years olds, remember they always say "Pick on someone your own size"

With that being said, I wish all teams good luck in the Fall season.

Phil

Thank you , we enjoyed having you. You have a great team and we look forward to playing your team in many more games. Two well played games 7-6 and 7-3 , (could not believe the catch by the left fielder saving two runs!)
I hope 2012's, 10U Baymen Wood-bat will attract more teams and be just as competitive.
thanks

LI [***censored***] are a bunch of messed up coaches who could not keep talent on their former teams. Its basically a Frankenstein of a team. I really feel sorry for the kids who will be subjected to the potential degrading behaviors that they have shown in the resent past. Please, this team will be decent at best. They will be a big surprise come spring at BBH. The [***censored***] will loose there clouds.

Conyo has good bunch of kids i was at tournament and at end two boys were very upset gave coach a hug and coach said good luck, after it was all said and done I asked a parent what was that about. the reply was the boys are going to be playing for another team however the feelings between the boys and coach was something out of a movie they both felt a connection it was something to see first hand. I tell you if I had a young son I wish he could have that relationship towards his coach. Good luck to Conyo and the boys I saw.

Its a shame the parents probably are switching teams for their needs not their kids. More parents should involve their kids in choices. If my kid and coach had that relationship I do my best to keep it together.

Coaches have no clue- no one wants to play there- yet they won basically every game since the summer started
sounds like someones team got smacked around a few times by them

In my opinion they might not have been the most talented team- but they were the most prepared team- I say thats good coaching

The head Baymen coach has no child on the team , he has coached over a dozen players to college scholarships, has coached the last 15 years without a loosening season , has won at Ripken , Sports at the Beach ,Disney , Baseball Heaven, Triple Crown, Cooperstown, ETCB, and any other local tournament that you can think of. He spends three days a week training and instilling confidence and values into a group of kids that respect his coaching experience . Has a coach on the staff that played division one baseball, another coach who played two years of college ball. This team had so many kids wanting to play in his organization that they had to start another team and is still sending kids to other organizations? Most team that have played them comment on how well the team is ran! If you want to know who is clueless , look in the mirror.

WRONG!!!! Anything thing you do to a bat to alter its original manufactured form is ILLEGAL. Look in the rule book under altered bats.

a rolled bat has not been altered , it has been broken in the same way as if it was used repeatedly in practice . Altered means to physically change the appearamce or composition of a bat after its been made. Rolling does neither , Its the same as buying a glove already broken in !

rolling a bat is the same thing as you taking your bat outside and smacking it against a tree to break in the inside walls...So is taking 500 swings with it too..Are those illegal too smart guy?

so i guess then if you put some extra tape on the bat handle you are altering the bat and therefore enhancing it? cmon! nothing is being altered when you roll a bat. its just like buying a broken in glove. Now shut up and go "roll" another one - you dumbbell!

You must be one of those softball guys who hits his bat against a tree or pole trying to break it in. And gets mad at the ump if he calls a strike on you because you don't want to tarnish your .900 avg. You obviously feel there's nothing wrong with rolling a bat because you do it to all your bats and your kids bats too. It's not like buying a glove that is broken in because a glove can not hit a ball at speeds in excess of 150 mph. You probably think Steroids are legal too because you can buy them.
When you roll a bat you are altering its breakin period. Where it would take 400-500 hits to brek in, you are doing it in minutes.
And just an F.Y.I.... if your tape on your bat goes past a certain point on the bat it may also be considered altered.
Read a rule book or something and stop assuming.

25677 you are really stretching . I know 5-6 9U's that can put the ball out 200' w/ wooden bats ! And they do this cause they hit 150 balls a week in BP, not because they are rolling bats .
You need to stick to your points, re-read your post , it sounds like you are the one doing alot of assuming. Hey, and thanks for letting us know you can't tape the bat past a certain point , your a real genius. Sounds to me you are doing to much 'rolling"

Bat rolling is a process that improves your bat's performance by approximately 10%. This means 30-40 feet of additional distance after rolling compared to a stock bat. When a bat is rolled, it is placed between two rollers and pressure is applied so that as the bat passes through the rollers, its fibers are stretched out. This causes the fibers to become more flexible, which greatly improves the bat's trampoline effect when the ball hits the bat, resulting in increased batted ball speed and distance. It will make the sweet spot bigger and much more consistent as well.

You should take the bat and shove it... Then throw it away since your kid probably can't hit so you roll his bat to maybe get him an advantage...

if your son is hitting 200ft at 9u then his swing is way too long.
Theres no way a 9yo can generate that much power with a proper swing. Enjoy it now because unless you change his swing by the time he's 14/15 he wont catch up to a fastball and won't be able to stay back long enough to hit a deuce.
Man I wish I could have a mirror into the future for guys like you but its good to enjoy the show. Sorry it wont last.

Do yourself and your kid a favor. Take your kid for a lesson on how to hit properly.

Yea, ok.

So it takes about 500 swings to break in a bat?
50 swings a day, you should be there by 10 days.
So why would anyone roll there kid's bat?
I guess it's because they want their kid to have an advantage?
That sounds like cheating to me.
Or perhaps a lazy parent that doesn't get out there to do some batting practice with their kid.
Either way, you're trying to go the easy way, what's that teaching your kid?
Next thing you know he will be paying someone to take his SAT.
For you guys who believe that rolling your bat is legal and it's alright... Instead of paying $30 bucks, go out and spend some time with your kid on a ballfield and pitch him some BP. Or for the same $30 bucks you can rent a cage for an hour. I'm sure you can get 100 swings or many more in an hour.

Now go ahead and reply to my post and try to justify why you roll your kid's bat and why you believe it is legal.

I guess good pitching out does 200 ft hitting. We played Conyo plenty of times and never saw a ball hit close to that.

I saw one of the Conyo kids hit a one bouncer to the fence in left center at baseball heaven with a WOOD Bat. Baseball heaven's fences are 230ft in center. Conyo went on to win the championship in a pitcher's duel, but the Wood bats did it in the last inning... guess the pitching isn't all that good.

I tell you what, besides the big slugger from the Baymen, I don't think there's a team out there with sluggers like Conyo, who test the fences on a regular, with composite, aluminum or WOOD bats. And none of their bats are ROLLED.

funny how hitting homeruns had you finishing in 5th. place. all the teams that don't hit the long ball were 1,2,3 and 4. guess those 200ft. shots can't get you wins.

Bottom line
the all time greatest slugging team Conyo played the baymen 13 teams during the 2011 season
The baymmen won 9 times
Conyo 4 times
Baymen scored 86 runs
conyo 67 runs
Home runs over the fence
Baymen 1
conyo 0

See you at the home run derby

Fact is they adjust their swings according to the count, different swing on a 3-0 pitch than the swing on a 0-2 pitch. How you like that for 9 yr olds. I too would like to know how Conyo's hitting instructors are.
Shitty swings???? You sound stupid. Are you really criticizing a 9 yr old kid's swing because he can hit the fence on the regular?
Either you sound can't do it after all the professional lessons you paid for or you are just a straight up HATER. And that would just be pathetic for a grown man to be hating on a 9 yr old kid just because he can hit a ball 200 ft. You really need a hug.

adjust all you want but a 9yo doesn't have the strength to hit a ball that far with a compact short swing. Its physically impossible.

now with a LONG flowing swing that starts in smithtown and ends up in montauk, yes, they can hit it a long way but that type of swing wont last long. Ask any quality hitting instructor. Oh I forgot, you are teaching your son to hit. My bad.
when hes 15 and starts hitting popups and striking out and not being able to hit offspeed stuff cuz he has to get his swing started way too early you will remember this conversation. Print it out and give it to your wife to save for your scrapbook.

take a video of your allstar sons homerun swing
if his elbows are extended when he FIRST makes contact then his swing is too long and he is using momentum and not power
If his elbows are still partially flexed and ready to power into the ball then his swing is short and compact.
a 9u player doesnt have the strength in his core or arms to generate enough power with a proper swing its simple physics.
keep thinking that you know everything and watch your kid slide to the bench as he gets older.
"what was that guys name who hit all those homeruns at 9u?"

when will your homerun hitting coach be doing a clinic I want to sign my son up. And though he could never make such an incredable team!!! I would like him to learn how to hit 200ft bombs- his mom would be proud
If no clinic could I please just watch a home run hitting practice- to be in his presence would be an honor
Will the 1st base coach be there I want his autograph as well. I have a picture of him doing the electric slide.
and the guy with the book- when theres a pop up/line drive to third how exetly do you write it down if its in between
thank you

Very funny thread rolling a bat will not do anything for a kid that is 9 years old and barely reaching 75 pounds. At that age his arms are not strong enough to produce enough bat speed to make hard enough contact to make a difference.

I am pretty sure that the baymen or conyo bashing is not from anyone on either of the two teams but from another team looking to hurt the respect they have for each other. both managers get along very well and always will. they both have been through this quite a few times. i doubt they will get caught up in the team bashing.

The " unofficial scorekeeper " who couldnt make it on Conyo, so he dragged his kid to the Baymen. Lets be honest, people cant even hide behind the "Anonymous" name anymore.

Agreed. Nothing to be ashamed about. If you are playing your age in fall as a so called top team then you really aren't looking to improve but just pad your stats. Any top team should look to challenge themselves in fall and if they lose so be it

honestly I wouldnt make such a big deal about playing up in the fall. many teams are winding down in the fall with many of their players playing football. many 10u teams are playing up to 11u to get used to the new distances. while there is no distance change from 9u to 10u. so finishing 5th in a weak 10u division is not all that its cracked up to be. play up next summer and challange yourself champ.

With that being said playing your own age is really watered down. Don't think its such a big thing but staying down and going undefeated is absolutely useless.
