if you asked a kid if he want's dinner or ice cream what would he say? bbh attracts more because of the setting. will they be ready for jr. high and high school? not too many rugs at that level. you can say what you want but no rug teams won on the grass this year! however the grass teams wooped the rug teams on the rug! you figure it out!

I'm sure your experience with daddy coaches have been really bad and its unfortunate it goes on at all but thats not the case with all teams. It obviously happens too much. I don't understand why anyone would coach a travel team when there son is not really able to normally make the team. If a father is coaching the team his son needs to be able to hold his own. He doesn't have to be the best but shouldn't be in a fight for the 10 or 11 spot. Its just too much of a conflict of interest. I have been on travel teams where I didn't think the Manager was the best but his son was definitely a great ball player. My last experience with coaches kids making all star teams and really being bad was in little league. It was just so blatant. Kid played 2nd base all year and couldn't catch a ball at all. My son's LL days were very short and started playing travel ball very young. This year I started managing because he played up and we decided to stay down to play his age. He still occasionally plays with the older team. Its always hard to manage your son and I guess some coaches just take their power and use it for there kid. In my case my son gets the [***censored***] end as he is held to the highest standard. We dont play NJBL so the allstar vote thing doesn't happen. My point is its unfortunate that you have had to deal with the Bullcrap but there are some teams out there that will fit your needs. I have seen teams where the coaches kids shouldn't be on the team and it boggles my mind how it happens.

The funny thing is that you do and will find this type of behavior on more teams than you think. There is always an agenda that is not public knowlwdge. I realize this and will only do what is best for my son. Father first, father letting son play baseball second. If he is on a team where this is happening he will not be there long. I teach my boy his surroundings are his choice. You have the freedom to choose. Some might not agree but that is an opinion each is entitled to. If you teach your son to follow along with behavior that is not fair to him or 85% of the team and allow him to stand there while it happens what is that? Baseball is fun when played right. Players of the same talent, fair tryouts and evals of each player, most of all a coaching staff that is honest with his players and parents. I can not stress this enough, this is PAID TRAVEL BASEBALL NOT IN-HOUSE LL. You must hold tryouts openly and address players that are not doing well and allow them to be placed on a team that would benefit him and that team. All the hard work your son and you put in is thrown away game after game as the o for the season guy does it again or make 10 erreors in a row in the field. There are teams of all talent levels. If everyone was able to be on a top team, no top team would exist. You must earn your ride in TRAVEL BASEBALL

Sounds like a BBH hater , wish your facts were correct. First, there are plenty of team that play league play on turf, and dominate at other venues , 10U Braves, Chiefs, and Falcons to name a few. Secondly, whether turf or natural, only a small portion will make HS anyway ,and I'm pretty sure what cleats he wears means nothing, and thirdly, many teams don't have fields so they are sometimes forced to play turf. My experience is the really good teams play really well on both. Not sure what woop, or whooping your're talking about but by your own words "turf is like ice cream " to kids .

holy crap when are you going to stop whining? you sound like a broken record already. if you are not happy just go somewhere else. im sure that your kid never makes any errors and was batting 1.000 at years end. get a life already! maybe you should start a new thread cause this is really old at this point.

I agree with you. I just think it sucks that some bad daddy coaches give all a bad name. If you want to be a top travel team you need the right kids and hard work. Also each kid needs to earn his position based on talent. My son is 10 and has played travel ball now for 3 years as I said above LL politics and talent wasn't going to keep us around very long. In those 3 years I have learned alot. My first year I would have joined any travel team without asking price, schedule, if they practice often and does everyone have to tryout. I just got lucky and my son played up for 2 years in a great organization and then we stayed down to play his age as we knew the team would be top notch. If I ever did change organizations which I don't ever plan to do, I would ask alot of questions and be very thorough. I would talk to parents on team already about how coach runs team and hopefully everything would work out good. Hopefully you find a good team to play for. Its nice when the kids play together and start to mesh really good together both on and off field.
