Need to be a good hitter. Can't rely on the bat anymore.

i was told by jr high coach that if you had a bbcor you would be able to use it this year and then all bats must be besr's. or which ever way the lettering goes.the old bats may be used in jr high 1 more year if you already had it.if not you must get the new bats. i'm not sure about high school.

other way around-bbcor in-besr out
apparently only difference from a wood bat is it wont break

Don't use a bbcor unless you have to, you will look like a weaker hitter compared to the other players. It's not as bad as using a wood bat when everyone else is using aluminum. Use a wood bat in practice and besr in games if you can. Not sure what middle school rules will be this year.

This is first year that BBCOR must be used for most if not all leagues. Haven't heard anything about BESR bats.

So you were told something about bat rules but you really don't know exactly what it is that you were told. Thanks for posting really incisive info about which ever way the lettering goes. Lord spare us from any of your future posts.

Truth be told the days of sticking the bat out and watching go is over...eventually it will all go over to wood in few years for players 13+.......It may be time to change your kids hitting styles

This is true. BBCOR is manditory for all HS JHS/Middle School ball and most if not all travel leagues. They supposedly perform more like wood bats and simply have less pop than BESR. Good hitters will still be good hitters and will probably become better hitters as they will learn they now have to drive the ball and use the field as opposed to trying to crush it over the fence.

glad to see this change, now kids are going to have to be "good hitters" instead of just "making contact."

How the hell does someone asking a serious question about bat rules, (which has been changing or talked about big changes) become a negative thing.

You guys are ridiculous. Answer the damn question if you know, if not shut up.

This is not brain surgery well for some maybe....most league's along with M/S and H/S your child will need a bat that has a sticker BBCOR 50...its that simple....I just bought my son an Easton (alloy) they also make composite...It sound like wood when the ball is hit, I have a feeling hitting will be down as the kids get use to swing metal that feels like wood......Ted Williams once said "its not the arrow its the indian."

Are you really serious BBCOR is a national standard as of Jan 1st 2012 in all high school ball, no if Njbl or any other league is not following suit there plain nuts. ALSO if your kid is any kind of player these new bats will not effect his game

If you read before you type, You will notice I said , not sure what middle schools will do, not HS, and at the time didn't know what njbl would do at different age groups. I have no comment or interest whether THEY ARE plain nuts or not. Less pop is less pop no matter what kind of player you are, that is why college homeruns and eras are down. They are already using bbcor. But, I guess your kid is the exception. I take that back, Chipper Jones (your son) has a long career with a wood bat.
