This video was received from a U-13 tournament.
Any umpires out there, make the call.
The slow motion at the end shows the ball on the ground as the pitcher attempts to show it to the umpire. Look near the pitcher's foot.

Out or safe?

Looks like Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, camera angle not really good as umpires angle's, did he have possesion during and thru tag? Did he never have control of ball? hard to see

It looks to me like the ball is near the foot of the pitcher. How long is possession necessary?

You need to see the play from a better angle, but it appears as if he dropped the ball during the tag and it also looked like he might have been in even if the ball wasn't dropped.

The Video has been removed by request of Frank Z owner of East coast umpires.

I guess it is a bit uncomfortable being second guessed, after the fact. Frank Z, try practicing medicine and REALLY get second guessed.

Bad calls can change games, not the game in question though.

Instant replay was always a good idea but now is readily accepted in the NFL, why not baseball?

It shows class for no more juicers to remove the video upon request. He does great camera work and is a great guy and baseball fan.

What does it show for an umpire, or an entire group of umpires, to be afraid to admit the possibility of a mistake.

Are you satisfied now? The only evidence of a mistake from an ECUA member has been stricken from the record. They don't make mistakes.

It's not the fact of being second guessed Admin.

In fact, I had a very good e-mail exchange with the person who posted the video (I WILL NOT mention names on websites), he was a great guy and we agreed that whenever he gets a video like that to just ask me before posting.

I'd try and know more before I posted remarks Admin.

The video was found on you tube not here. In fact, your posters did have some good thoughts towards the play after I read them today.

As some use these videos to second guess it seems, we use them for training & teaching purposes.

Ok, I can admit to reacting too soon.

On the surface it seemed like you were nervous about people seeing what could have been a mistake, which could happen. It looked like censorship of some sort, for a baseball game.

In baseball, basketball, all sports, it is impossible to see everything. "Blue" as we know them, do a great job in most games. Most parents would hide if asked to do their jobs.

As an aside, whenever I would approach an umpire regarding a call I would preface my statement by saying "You are one of the best out here, but...." It seemed to always put my discussion in a different light.

All clear, all done. Friends again.

Get your guys ready for a cold spring and a hot summer.

Play Ball!

and yes, the videographer is a great guy.
