College Showcases are not scams but they are not the best way to get exposed to colleges, because the local showcases have the same coaches come all the time. If your looking for exposure outside of the local area you need to be proactive like Scott Coppolla's father suggests in an earlier post and get a dvd done, there are many different people making them. You should also attend college camps at the schools you are interested. You should be proactive and pursue (email coaches, play in quality tournaments (perfect game events are great)) the schools you want to go to because college baseball is very limited financially in terms of recruiting so it is up to you in terms of who sees you play. Just going to college showcases will get you limited exposure but you need to do a lot more.

I don't think that was Scotty's father hyping him but Scott does a good job. I guess I should have signed in so you guys could see that I'm not really "him". Point well taken and agreed with. exposure is the key.

College showcases are money makers. Scams. Do yourself a favor and get a Professional DVD done by a local scout, Scott Capolla is the best, he will do infield, arm strength, running, all camera angles. By far more moe appealing to college coaches. I know 3 kids from EI who never went to a " Showcase" and are now playing D- II ball.

Exactly what is the scam part? Do college coaches show up at all? I think that if the programs provide a venue for players to showcase their skills then the showcase has done its job.

I've never been to one myself but I can't see exposure being a bad thing. Please, tell me what the scam part is all about.

The showcases that I have heard about all have benefits to players. They provide exposure to people that would otherwise be well under the radar. Yes they all cost money. Everything costs money. We pay for other things, why not pay for this. Travel teams charge the players more than the combined cost of the tournaments and uniform. Somebody makes money off of it, correct? Why is it wrong for a showcase to make money?

Its probably a good idea to limit the "showcases" that a player attends but all a guy needs is for somebody to see him and like him. Without seeing him at a showcase, it would be difficult for somebody to like him.

The top 20 draft picks are well known to everyone. It is not that player who the showcases are for. The showcases are for the middle of the pack players just to be NOTICED.

If you are good you will get noticed, simple as that. Videos are good for lower level schools, D1 schools need to see you in person before any money gets spoken about.

Probably looking to ride on the momentum of Storm Baseball 14u who won the previous week. But that same week another long Island team Bandits 10u lost big.
Hope they don't ride the momentum of the Bandits.
