Oh yes, how soon we forget. He was a good player too. He led off the Long Island Championship with a single up the middle. Yes, tough to replace all around but the core is still there.

What about Port Jefferson? Played Babylon very close last year in the county semi finals for class c and are moving down to class c this year. Also they return their whole starting pitching rotation.

Pt Jeff? Haven't heard much about them. That means 2 things, either flying under the radar or just not that good. Just because a team makes it to the playoffs does not qualify them as a great team. There could be so few teams in a class that a very bad team could make it to the States only to be completely ROCKED when they get there.

Pt Jeff played Babylon well but they don't belong in the same sentence. Take it for what its worth. It is a baseball game so, as they say,
On any given Sunday

U guys are nuts talking about guarantees of state titles and sure bets, do you know how many Suffolk teams have even won state titles ever?
13 total, thats it!
East Islip (1981 and 1991) and Connetquot (1989 and 1995)have 2
Comsewogue (1982), Eastport (1986), Shoreham (1987), Smithtown East (1990), Miller Place (1991), Longwood (1998), Hills West (2003), Mercy (2003), Islip (2007) and Babylon (2007)

Its not quite as easy as people think.

Ok so lets do some math. Its now 2007. State titles go back how far, maybe till 1955 or so??? 2007 - 1955 = 52 years.

Suffolk County teams have won 13 baseball titles. 13/52 = 25%

Nice job winning 1/4 of the titles since the existence of state titles.

Any given sunday boys..............

Lots of talent right in our back yards. Don's underestimate ourselves.

Actually NY State Titles only go back to 1981 but there are 5 different classifications in which Championships are compete for so there have been 106 State Championships awarded (some years there were 5, some 4, some 2) in total. So if you want to play Mr Wizard with the numbers 13 out of 106 is a far less impressive stat (13 percent). But I wasnt knocking our talent in this area I was actually saying people should be more realistic with their expectations and be even more impressed with the teams who have won, the accomplishment is Outstanding! Also Any Given Sunday is a football saying for the record!

PJ has a great shot at winning the State title. They have 2 good pitchers with some good hitting.
